New Move for the Revd Alan Jesson

The Revd Alan Jesson, who has for a number of years been the Honorary Assistant Curate in the Benefice of Fen Drayton with Conington and Lolworth and Swavesey, has been appointed Rector of Upwell and Outwell.

At the same time he will continue in post as Senior Chaplain to the Cambridge-shire Army Cadet Force. The Bishop of Huntingdon will institute and the Archdeacon of Wisbech induct Mr Jesson into his new cure at a service on Monday 30th October 2000 at St Peter's Church, Upwell. His final Sunday in this benefice is on 24th September when a bring and share lunch to celebrate the contribution of Alan and Yvonne, his wife, to the local churches and community, is planned at St Andrew's, Swavesey. Both Alan and Yvonne will be sorely missed and we wish them every success in their new situation.

Alan Jesson writes:

Did you see the last part of The Last Night of the Proms? After all the music Sir Andrew Davis speech which was interrupted by a spontaneous outburst of Goodbyee from the assembled Promenaders? It is with similarly mixed feelings that Yvonne and I prepare to make our move after exactly 16 years living in Swavesey. We moved in on October 1st 1984. It is by far the longest we have lived anywhere since we were married, and we have made many good friends in our time here. We shall miss you all.

At the same time we are facing up to the challenges of the new. New places, Outwell and Upwell. New people to meet. New job. It could be it is! all rather daunting, but I know that this is what we have been called to do, and where God has called us to exercise our ministry for the foreseeable future. Please remember us in your prayers, as we shall remember you.
