IN UNCERTAIN TIMES when we are daily reminded of the precariousness of human life, we naturally begin to ask ourselves deep questions, not least about the purpose and meaning of life itself and our personal existence on this planet.
A friend may suggest to us that faith may have something useful to put into the debate. But if all we know about faith is the lessons that washed over us at school some years ago, where can we turn to nd out reliably what Christianity might have to say to us today?
One answer might be to join a small group exploring the basics of Christianity in an informal setting. There are many courses available, some nationally advertised, which offer such a solution.
Your parish church is running what is called The Emmaus Course this autumn. Emmaus is a broadly based course of fteen sessions providing a balanced introduction to Christian faith. Although the approach is gentle, there will be challenges along the way and the intention is that, at the end of the course, participants will at least have learned something of Christian faith and may want to take their exploration further.
Those who would like further information about Emmaus, the Way of Faith and about this autumns course in basic Christianity should please contact me at 01954 231903 or jdyule@argonet.co.uk as soon as possible.
