There will be opportunities to buy charity Christmas cards and gifts, not least those sold in aid of AICM (African International Christian Ministries) both in St Andrew's Church, Swavesey, after the BATS (Baby and Toddler Service) on Monday 10th October and from 11.00am to 6.00pm on the following day, Tuesday 11th October, at St Mary's, Conington.

The Kingdom Season

As Advent approaches, our church services begin to focus on the Kingdom of God. This Kingdom where God's just and gentle rule is known and respected belongs both to the unknown future and to the present and past.

The season begins with All Saints' Sunday when we celebrate the lives of those who have worked build up the Kingdom and God's Church in this present life. By long tradition at this season we also remember by name those who have died in the past year and whose passing we have marked in the benefice. This year we will do this at the 11.00am service at St Andrew's, Swavesey, and 3.30pm Evensong at All Saints', Lolworth. Relatives of those who have died in the past 12 months, may like to make a point of attending either these services.

Two weeks later, on Remembrance Sunday, we begin the traditional Act of Remembrance at 10.50am at the War Memorials both in the churchyard at St Andrew's, Swavesey, and in Church Street, Fen Drayton.

The Kingdom Season reaches its climax on the Feast of Christ the King on 20th November, the Sunday next before Advent.

St Andrew's Choir

St Andrew's Choir resumed its practices following the August break on 8th September.

At the Harvest Festival Services on Sunday 2nd October the anthem at 11.00pm will be Jubilate Deo by Benjamin Britten and at Choral Evensong at 6.30pm, The heavens are telling by Haydn. The latter service will also include canticles by Charles Wood. The singers hope you will support them by attending both these services.

The Choir will also sing at the Harvest Festival Evensong at Conington the following Sunday.

We send our best wishes to Liz Kennedy who has left us, at least temporarily, due to voice problems.
