Enoch’s 2006 Visit

For a number of years, our four parishes have supported African International Christian Ministry (AICM) which works mainly in south-west Uganda.

Many Friends of AICM have visited Uganda to see the work there and AICM workers from Uganda have come to England bringing their infectious enthusiasm for making the Christian gospel come alive.

This spring, Canon Enoch Kayeyee, the founder and director of AICM will be visiting England for about four weeks with his deputy, Loyce Kemigisha.

Although Enoch will not be preaching to us directly on this visit, we can meet with him in an informal setting at Oatlands, High Street, Conington, on the evening of Friday 5th May. Further details from Mike & Gill Henderson on 01954 267349 or mghend@onetel.net.

St Andrew’s Choir

The two Christmas Carol Festivals, at Conington on 18th December 2005 and at Swavesey on New Year’s Day 2006, were both well attended and well received by the congregations.

In January twelve choir members enjoyed their Annual Supper at the refurbished “Trinity Foot”.

Anthems for Lent have been sung on two occasions - 5th March and 2nd April and we plan to sing items by Handel and Gerald Knight on Easter Day.

The Choirs Festival in Ely Cathedral is on Saturday 20th May and it is hoped that up to twelve members will be able to attend.

Christian Aid Week

Christian Aid Week this year runs from 14th to 20th May. The prayer focus this year is on those supported by Christian Aid working with people living with HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia.

Harvest Festivals 2006

The pattern of our Harvest Festival Services is different this year. On Sunday 1st October we will have all the services that we usually have on the second Sunday of a month and on Sunday 8th October we will use the service times that we usually have on the first Sunday of a month.

This is to enable the Revd Gordon Gatward, the Director of the Arthur Rank Centre at Stoneleigh in Warwickshire, to preach at the Harvest Festival services at Fen Drayton (at 9.30am) and Swavesey (at 11.00am) on 8th October.

Dr Gatward is an acknowl-edged expert on rural affairs and rural ministry.

The Harvest Festival service at All Saints’, Lolworth, will be on Sunday 1st October at 9.30am. Harvest Festival Evensong at St Mary’s, Conington, will also be on 1st October at 6.30pm, with Swavesey Choir in attendance as usual. Further details are on the News Page of the Vicarage Website at www.honeyhill.org/news.html.
