Confirmation is one of the sacraments of the Church.
At confirmation, a Christian who has already been baptised makes a personal commitment to their faith in Jesus as their Lord and takes upon themselves the joys and the responsibilities of a full and active membership of the Church.
The minister at the sacrament of confirmation is a bishop.
During the confirmation, the bishop 'lays hands' on the candidates. The bishop addresses each candidate by name, places his hands on their head and says, "Confirm, O Lord, your servant with your Holy Spirit".
